And I quote, “I just wanted to follow up on you coming into the office one day…Sachin and Babi want you to ‘hang’ with them for the afternoon and see how all of the magic happens here in our studio.”  Very cool.

Sachin + Babi Part II

Thursday night was a huge success — again, many thanks to Neiman Marcus’s PR.  Meeting these two was a rather entertaining experience.  Designers as well as partners in the industry, they are quite the dynamic married couple; one of the night’s funnier moments, Sachin returned from a long absence exclaiming, “See, she always insists, ‘No, no, you should sit down for a few minutes,’ and look, I end up with an oxygen facial.”
It was great discussing their inspiration, ideas, and use of textiles — beautiful patterns reminiscent of old world India paired with novelty and unique textures, which give a modern, lush feel to their work.  As models showcased the SS 2011 lookbook I saw this very admirable consistency in quality.  And when the night came to a close, I left with a resort dress courtesy of their Midtown studio and an invitation to Lincoln Center this fall — oh yes!
