Fall skincare

1 Oct

For my skin, the fall months come as a shock; less sun, less moisture, more wind and low temperatures, it can’t help but break out as a result of overcompensating oil or cracking skin.  In response, I’ve developed (and update) a skincare regimen that doubles as “ER” and maintenance.  I completely stand by this season’s products whose use can extend throughout the year. 1. Clarisonic PLUS Sonic Skin Cleansing System
I consider it the number one investment in your skin; it really separates itself from other cleansing methods by reducing pore size, which firms and smoothes skin, when exfoliating and massaging.  Follow the prescribed routine: 20sec forehead, 20sec nose and chin, and 10sec each cheek, all in a circular, upward motion, because areas of skin vary.  For example, the elasticity in your cheeks is quite different from your forehead, so it’s easier to gain fat in your cheeks but easier to wrinkle your forehead.
2. Natura Bisse NB•Ceutical Intensive Tolerance Booster
It is the perfect milky, light base before applying eye gel, moisturizer, what have you.  During the summer, you can get away with substituting the Intensive Tolerance Booster for moisturizer, but if you’re one to lay out in the sun day after day, you won’t.  Even if and when you don’t tan, it’s always prudent to use a moisturizer with SPF every morning.
3. La Prairie Cellular Revitalizing Eye Gel
Having dark circles has always been a hereditary setback, so believe me when I say no treatment produced results quite like this eye gel.  Gently apply before moisturizer in the morning and evening; the best way to do so is by using the pad of the ring finger and dabbing along the lash line from the outer to inner corner of the eye.  A cooling sensation “wakes up” and opens the eyes, and after a few applications, swelling that causes dark circles significantly decreases.
4. Chantecaille Masque Revitalisant au Jasmin et au Lys
This is a cold-weather must, especially when living or working in a windy area.  It soothes and calms irritated skin and lends plenty of hydration for recovery.
5. Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15
“Honey” and “Passion” are the two fall hues from Fresh Sugar, and as you can tell, I use these lip treatments a lot — for a girl who doesn’t care much for the boldness of lipstick or inconvenient stickiness of gloss.  However, I recommend them because: 1. lips are treated to long-lasting moisture and softness (apply twice daily); 2. SPF 15 protects lips from sun damage; and 3. it’s skincare over cosmetic beauty.
6. Clé de Peau Beauté Crème Reconstituante pour le Corps
Intensive care with miraculous results, quickly restoring dry, damaged skin and leaving it as smooth as silk.  It’s fragrant and rich, but believe me, your skin will absorb it and give much thanks in the long-term.

I will always advise against makeup, but if you must, I recommend using Yves Saint Laurent Eye Makeup Remover.  The two-phase solution gently melts away all makeup so the whole removal process less stressful on your skin.  Follow up with Fresh Soy Face Cleanser.

As busy as the falling leaves

26 Sep

So the leaves aren’t exactly falling, but autumn has arrived and the mild-to-chilly weather is setting in.  I know I’ve already made plans for apple and pumpkin-picking!  With that said plus another hundred to-do’s, the past month has gone by incredibly fast — my way of saying, “Pardon the brief break, I promise I had good reason.”

You’ve got (to have) the blues

17 Aug

Chanel’s Limited Edition Le Vernis Nail Colour collection exclusively for Fashion’s Night Out, of course.
And if you’re in New York, visit any of the three Chanel boutiques (two on Madison Avenue between Midtown East and the Upper East Side, and one on Spring Street in SoHo) and receive a complimentary manicure featuring these shades.

Where will you be?

16 Aug

The much-anticipated event listings are now official for Fashion’s Night Out, set for September 8th!
For those not in the know,
Q: What is Fashion’s Night Out?
A: Fashion’s Night Out is an unprecedented global initiative created in 2009 in a partnership between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy, and put the fun back in shopping.

Events take place in every city worldwide, so be sure to check local retailers and see what’s in store for September 8th.  If you’re in New York, you know very well to plan your night out — you may start on the Upper West Side and at the end of the evening find yourself in SoHo.
One of the best and favorites is Bergdorf Goodman; the department store has an incredibly detailed and star-studded schedule you won’t want to miss.  However, if you’re one to meet and mingle with designers, go to Saks Fifth Avenue, chat, play Pictionary (like last year with Chris Benz, Peter Som, Prabal Gurung, and Zac Posen).  Henri Bendel may be smaller in comparison but the New York icon certainly throws a chic, classy cocktail event!  I personally look forward to the Marc Jacobs Carnival along with 3.1 Phillip Lim, but again, who knows?  We’ll also see if the Boyfriend braves price tags at Harry Winston.

Gaga in Versace

14 Aug

Gaga can basically wear (and get away with) anything fashionably forward, but recently spotted in Los Angeles in this frock, she can also be fashionable wearing anything basic.
